Upgrading you differential is probably the most cost effective way of improving your road, trackday or racecar.

Plate type differentials can be improved by increaseing the number of friction plate from the stock setup.

Increasing to a four plate system is reccomended for fast road, rally and trackday use.

Increasing to a six plate system is recomended for racing only.

Changing the differential ratio is also an effective way of improving acceleration, but you must  remeber that this will also reduce you top speed.
